Xoom 3.3.1 has been released

We are pleased to announce the release of Xoom version 3.3.1. This is a hotfix release fixing the following issues found in release 3.3:

  • Versioning script now works correctly with folders that contain spaces.
  • Xoom Console no longer tries to establish the connection while server name is being typed in. Connecting to a non-existing or unreachable server now also emits a more informative message.
  • The configuration for remote connections now contains increased memory limit, making it possible to use pure client installations productively without initial configuration effort.

Xoom 3.3 has been released

We are pleased to announce the release of Xoom version 3.3. The release contains a new versioning script supporting per-item configuration versioning with Git, Mercurial and Subversion, major improvements on installation file information retrieval, some enhancements of Xoom Processor, usability improvements of Settings Migration Tool and some other minor improvements and bug fixes. The changes are listed in detail below.

Xoom Processor

Xoom Processor (xp.exe) is a command line tool for retrieving, transforming, storing and applying configuration information using Xoom and its capabilities. Xoom Processor enables users to execute a pipeline of operations. At each stage of the pipeline, a distinct operation can be performed, and the result of the operation stored, applied and/or fed into further operations in the pipeline.

Creating a Service Optimization corpus for Xoom (technical)

Xoom was able to mock a Service Optimization environment for the purposes of Xoom customisation and support since version 3.0. In version 3.1, this ability has been expanded, allowing a higher degree of control over what information is captured and how that information is used during environment reconstruction. Here we provide the information on how to create a corpus containing the captured communication.

Xoom Installation

The process of installing Xoom is simple. It constitutes of running an installer supplied by Zany Ants and answering a handful of questions in order to allow Xoom to connect to the local installation of Service Optimization. The installer does the rest by checking the prerequisites, installing Xoom and, if necessary, registering custom components that are needed on Service Optimization side for Xoom to fully function.
